ANZA Social Welfare Activities

About ANZA Social Welfare Activities

ANZA (the Australia and New Zealand Association) supports disadvantaged people in many areas of the community through the activities of its Social Welfare Committee. Social Welfare remains one of ANZA’s core activities, supporting vulnerable Indonesians through sponsorship programs, fundraising events, volunteer involvement, and direct community assistance. ANZA currently supports a range of ongoing projects and sponsorship initiatives throughout Jakarta and surrounding areas.

ANZA members who have an interest in community service are encouraged to become involved. Participation can take many forms, including hands-on volunteer work, fundraising, project monitoring, sponsorship support, or assisting with community outreach activities.

ANZA’s Social Welfare programs provide assistance to:

  • Disadvantaged children through schools, educational programs, and children’s homes.
  • Elderly people through community support and food assistance programs.
  • People with disabilities through institutions and specialized care programs.
  • Students from low-income families through educational sponsorship initiatives.
  • Children and families requiring medical assistance that would otherwise be beyond their financial means.

In addition to its ongoing programs, ANZA may also assist with special projects when funding permits. These projects have included:

  • Improvements to schools and educational facilities.
  • Community sanitation projects.
  • Educational supplies and equipment.
  • Furniture and recreational equipment for children’s homes.
  • Mobility aids and equipment for people with disabilities.
  • Emergency assistance in times of need.

Opportunities for Private Sponsorship

ANZA offers opportunities for individuals, families, groups, and companies to become directly involved in helping disadvantaged Indonesians through sponsorship programs.

ANZA Student Sponsorship Program

The ANZA Student Sponsorship Program helps children and young adults from financially disadvantaged families continue their education. Through sponsorship, students are able to remain in school and pursue opportunities that may otherwise be beyond their reach.

The program has been operating for many years and continues to be one of ANZA’s most significant social welfare initiatives.

ANZA Medical Sponsorship Program

ANZA also facilitates medical sponsorships for children from families who cannot afford essential surgery and medical treatment.

The program has supported children requiring corrective surgery for craniofacial conditions such as cleft lips and cleft palates, as well as other serious medical conditions. Through the generosity of sponsors, many children have received life-changing treatment that would otherwise be unavailable to them.
