Srikandi is a support network and forum for Indonesian women who are married to, or were previously married to, non-Indonesians. Regular meetings and events are organized for personal development and to strengthen family life.
Those familiar with the wayang tradition from the Mahabharata epic will recognize the name Srikandi — a beloved character admired for her courage and loyalty to family and country. Her name was chosen for this organization, which was officially and legally established on October 10, 2000.
Today, Srikandi has grown to more than 400 members worldwide, with around 150 active members in Jakarta and Bali. The organization provides a forum for networking, support, and information sharing, with programs focused on self-improvement and the unique challenges of multinational family life. All Indonesian women who are married or were previously married to foreigners, regardless of nationality, are warmly invited to join.
Srikandi’s activities center on issues of interest and concern to its members, including legal matters, immigration, work permits, citizenship, property ownership, and raising children in a multinational family. Social, recreational, charitable, and spiritual activities are also offered, held at various venues across the city.
Members receive information through the newsletter Berita Srikandi and through presentations at regular meetings. Those who need support or guidance on matters related to international mixed marriages will find assistance through the organization’s programs and community.
What can a member expect from Srikandi? Friendship, support, information, and creative activities. Members with questions or challenges related to international marriages receive direct assistance from the organization.
What are Srikandi’s activities? Presentations on legal issues, immigration, and raising multinational families; as well as religious, social, charitable, and recreational programs held at rotating locations. The organization also hosts zoominars and annual events.
How is Srikandi financed? Through annual membership fees, occasional fundraising activities, and donations or sponsorships. All contributions go toward member programs and charitable activities. (Note: membership fee amounts should be confirmed directly with the organization, as these may have changed since the last update.)
Structure of Srikandi The organization is governed by an elected Board — consisting of Co-Chairmen, a Secretary, and a Treasurer — serving two-year terms. Program Coordinators manage individual activities. All board members and coordinators are volunteers.
