Jakarta is home to a substantial and diverse Catholic community, including a significant international population. Across the city there are regular Mass services held in English, German, French, Spanish and Chinese, catering to the many nationalities that make up Jakarta’s expatriate and immigrant communities. The listings below cover the main options for non-Indonesian language services. Mass schedules can change, particularly around major feast days and Holy Week, so it is always worth confirming current times directly with the parish before attending for the first time.

English Mass

St. Peter Canisius is Jakarta’s dedicated international English-speaking Catholic parish, welcoming people of all nations and denominations. Membership is open to foreign citizens (WNA) holding a foreign passport who have resided in the Greater Jakarta area for at least three months and are not already registered at another local parish.

Masses in English are held at:

  • St. Theresia Church – Map Saturday 3:30 pm | Sunday 3:00 pm | 1st Friday Mass 7:30 pm
  • Canisius Chapel at Canisius College, Menteng – Map Sunday 6:00 pm
  • St. Stephanus Church, Cilandak – Map Tuesday 11:00 am | 1st Friday Mass 10:00 am

Parish Activities

For children aged 9 to 16, CCD classes prepare students for their First Holy Communion and Confirmation sacraments. Class registration opens every year around July/August, with classes starting in September. For adults wishing to join a Baptismal or catechumen class, a new class begins on the 1st Saturday of August each year. Contact the Parish office for registration and information.

Other regular activities include online community prayer each evening via Zoom, Bible class and seminars for youth and adults, and a Young Adults Professional Community Group.
