Wellington College Independent School Jakarta (WCIJ) is one of the newest international schools in Indonesia and the first to bring the heritage of Wellington College, one of England’s most respected independent schools, to the country. Opening its first campus in 2026, the school combines the traditions of British education with modern teaching methods designed to prepare students for a rapidly changing world. Rather than focusing solely on academic achievement, Wellington places considerable emphasis on developing character, confidence, creativity and leadership alongside intellectual growth.
As part of the international Wellington College family, students benefit from an educational philosophy that encourages curiosity, resilience and independent thinking from an early age. The school follows the English National Curriculum while incorporating inquiry-based learning and opportunities for collaboration, helping children become confident learners who are able to solve problems, communicate effectively and think critically. Its relatively small initial intake allows the school to offer personalised attention as it establishes its community and grows year by year.
The campus has been purpose-built in BSD City, one of Greater Jakarta’s fastest-growing residential areas. Modern classrooms, specialist learning spaces and thoughtfully designed outdoor areas provide an environment where students can learn, play and explore safely. As the school expands over the coming years, additional year levels and a dedicated Senior School campus are planned, allowing students eventually to complete their education from the early years through to university entrance.
