About the ASEAN Women's Circle of Jakarta

The ASEAN Women’s Circle of Jakarta (AWC) was established on 8 August 1975 by Madame Nelly Adam Malik, wife of the then Minister of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia, together with the wives of the ASEAN Ambassadors in Indonesia and other women officials in the Department of Foreign Affairs in Indonesia.

The purpose and objectives of the AWC are to promote mutual understanding and cooperation among our members as well as to acquaint them and the general public with the values and aims of ASEAN. AWC promotes ASEAN solidarity and friendship through various social-cultural and other related activities.

Membership in the ASEAN Women's Circle of Jakarta

Membership is open to women from Brunei, Cambodia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam. Cost of membership per year is Rp 200.000.

Membership entitles a person to be involved in AWC's fundraising efforts as well as cultural activities, for example: sports events, seminars, culinary demonstrations, fashion shows, outings and Coffee Mornings jointly hosted by AWC and the ten ASEAN Member States as well as ASEAN Dialogue Partners.
