Second Home Visa

For those foreigners who are not 55 y.o. yet, don't want to work, and don't want to set-up a company in Indonesia, the Second Home visa is an option for you to get a 5-year Temporary Residence Permit (KITAS) which is the result of getting the Second Home Visa.

The Second Home Visa does not require a sponsor. You can apply for it yourself at https://evisa.imigrasi.go.id

Article 56

(1) Application for a Temporary Stay Visa for foreigners to conduct second home activities...is submitted...by attaching:

a. passport valid for at least 6 months;
b. proof of Immigration Guarantee;
c. proof of having living expenses for himself/herself and/or for his/her family while in Indonesia;
d. recent color photograph; and
e. other documents to explain the purpose/objective of the foreigner's arrival.

(2) Proof of Immigration Guarantee as referred to in paragraph (1) letter b consists of:

a. statement of commitment to deposit funds in an account in his own name at a state-owned bank worth at least US$130,000 or equivalent; or
b. statement of commitment to purchase property in the form of a flat or apartment in Indonesia worth at least US$1 million or equivalent, which must be fulfilled within a maximum period of 90 (ninety) days from the date the Temporary Stay Permit is granted.

3. With this visa you can:

a. Carry out business and investment activity in Indonesia.
Note from this site: "carry out business" in a limited sense, like discussing/signing a export/import contract.
b. Bring eligible members of your family.
c. Work in Indonesia, if eligible (meet the conditions of multiple residence permit activities).

Note from this site: you must be legally hired by an Indonesian based company.

Other information:

If you meet the conditions, you will automatically obtain the Electronic Temporary Residence Permit (e-ITAS) and the Re-Entry Permit upon arrival at the Immigration Checkpoint (you do not need to go to the Immigration Office).

Staying in Indonesia over the period of your residence permit, engaging in prohibited activities, not complying with visa conditions, and/or not complying with Indonesian laws may result in you paying fines, being deported, and/or other legal charges.

In addition to the e-ITAS, the ITAS also has a physical card available at the immigration office.

Document Requirements

a. Valid Nationality Passport at least 6 (six) months.
b. Latest color photograph.
c. Curriculum Vitae.
d. Travel Itinerary.
e. Statement of commitment that must be accomplished within 90 days after the date of arrival, such as:
- Deposit funds in an account under the name of the foreigner at a state-owned bank with a value of US$ 130,000 , or
- Purchase property in Indonesia such as an apartment/flat house with a value of US$1 million.

At the time this Ministerial Regulation comes into effect, the types and rates... related to Second Home, as regulated in the Attachment to the Regulation ... no. 9 / PMK.02 / 2022, are revoked and declared invalid.

Other Immigration Processes

Persons holding the Second Home e-ITAS/KITAS/KITAP must report any change in civil status or address within 60 days.

Immigration Law No. 6 Year 2011
Article 71

Each foreigner residing in Indonesia shall:

a. provide all necessary information regarding his/her identity and / or identity of his/her family, and report any changes in : civil status, nationality, occupation, sponsorship, or a change of address to the local Immigration Office; ...

Article 116
Each foreigner who do not perform his/her obligations as stipulated in Article 71 shall be punished with a maximum confinement of 3 months or a fine of up to 25 million.

Residence Identity Documents

a) SKTT/Residence Certificate (for e-ITAS/KITAS holder)
b) KTP WNA and KK WNA (Foreigner's Identity Card & Family Card)

The resident foreigner must request the applicable document(s) at the city's Kantor Catatan Sipil/Civil Register Office.
